Maine mountains expect a bit of snow ahead of holiday skiing
By Carl Natale
Maine’s mountains may collect a couple inches of snow Thursday night. The warm temperatures will give way to cooler temps Saturday and Sunday. The weather wonks are talking about low 30s and 20s in the mountains.
Monday will cool down even more but no other precipitation is expected until mid week. Maybe Wednesday. But it’s not certain if it will be snow or rain yet.
If you have children, you know that it’s the President’s Day holiday. If you haven’t made plans to take the family skiing yet, it’s not too late. Heather Burke reports that the ski resorts aren’t booked solid as they usually are during school break. She rounds up some of the deals and activities you can find this weekend and next week.
A lot of it boils down to extended hours. Most resorts will operate during the week as if it is the weekend. Starting Friday, Sunday River will offer night skiing for $5 until Feb. 25.

The Greenwood resort is making a pretty big deal out of the holiday week. They have a few things planned:
- Torchlight parade at 6 p.m. Sunday.
- Family night in the lodge will feature a spaghetti feed after the parade.
- Tuesday is Kids Rule day. Children younger than 12 pay their age on all day tickets before 10:30 a.m. There will be scavenger hunts, games and an ice cream party at 4:30 p.m. in the main lodge.
