ll bean rings in the holidays with fun, entertainment and a coat drive for seniors
FREEPORT, ME. November 11, 2011—L.L.Bean rings in the holiday season with its Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, November 18, at 6:45pm, in L.L.Bean’s Discovery Park, just outside the L.L.Bean Flagship Store, Freeport, Maine. The 60-foot tree (L.L.Bean’s tallest ever) will be decorated by lighting artist Pandora LaCasse and lit with over 35,000 thousand LED lights. Performances by Bowdoin College’s a cappella groups Meddiebempsters andMiscellania will add to the evening’s festivities.
Once again, L.L.Bean will be hosting a coat drive for seniors along with Maine Area Agencies on Aging, collecting gently used coats for Maine’s older citizens throughout the weekend. For every coat received, L.L.Bean will provide a matching donation of $5 to the Keep ME Warm Campaign.
The fun continues on Saturday and Sunday horse and carriage rides from 1-7pm. Shoppers can enjoy the all the colorful lights and decorations along Freeport’s Main Street, and experience a memorable holiday tradition.
The Christmas Tree Lighting is the first of many special events planned during L.L.Bean’s season-long celebration−Northern Lights−with live entertainment, spectacular displays, and sporting activities planned each weekend. The grand finale is a special New Year’s Eve party just for kids—KidsNight—featuring Rich Charette and fireworks.
