Our Historic Register Inn is located in Dexter, Maine which is just 20 minutes off I95 and 50 minutes drive to the Maine coastline, Bangor and the beautiful, scenic Moosehead Lake and Mount Katahdin region of Maine.

The Inn is on the National Register of Historic Places and is a former Maine Governer and Government Senators family home. If you ever saw the the 3 time Golden Globe and 5 time Oscar award winning film “The Aviator” starring Leonardo De Caprio as Howard Hughes then you will of seen Alan Alda from MASH playing the Senator that was in charge of the Government task force that tried to bring Howard Hughes down in political history. In that film Alan Alda played Senator and also Governor Ralph Owen Brewster and its his home we have so its pretty historic.

Our Inn was shown on TV across the USA on HGTV in June 2008 as we were filmed for their show HGTV “If Walls Could Talk” in Oct 2007.

Presidents Truman and Taft, 7 Senators that we’re aware of and Louis B Mayer founder of MGM Films have all been and stayed here.

Our 9 guest rooms range from expansive to cozy, and each offers a distinct personality. Some feature Kingsize beds, fireplaces, original wood paneling, window seats and original tile bathrooms. Others offer a view of the gardens or a whirlpool bath for two. One handicapped accessible guestroom is also available. All guest rooms have their own bathrooms, cable TV, AC in season and their own independant heating controls, wi-fi, luxury bathrobes and towels as well as in-room DVD players with movies all available for you to enjoy.
We also encourage you to take advantage of our large living room, expansive gardens, screen porch and patio for relaxation, reading, conversation or just watching the world go by. The dining room is a great space for writing or playing board games

We also can offer 24hr gym memberships at Millside Fitness in Dexter for just $5 a day.

Take a drive or bicycle ride around the area and experience an abundance of scenic views from Lake Wassookeag, charming farms and beautiful countryside.

Visit one our many local farms and orchards for apple and pumpkin picking. Don’t forget to take home delicious Maine pure maple syrup.

In the winter, curl up in the living room window seat and watch the snow fall, or sit by the fire and indulge in novels and hot chocolate. Enjoy activities such as our winter town festival, dog sledding, horse drawn sled rides. snowmobiling, snow shoeing, skiing and ice fishing. Dexter is also on the Maine snowmobile trails with the ITS trail running right past us.

In the warmer months relax on our covered porches and enjoy over an acre of rose and perennial gardens complemented by an ornamental pond. Enjoy moosewatching, whitewater rafting, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, biking, fishing, photography, public beaches, nature and river walks and birdwatching all close by
