The Perennial Inn, Rumford Point
“The friendliest, most comfortable bed-and-breakfast in the state of Maine, if not the planet” - Diane Baire, Travel Writer/Author
Whether you are looking for a romantic get away, a family vacation, a trip to a beautiful lakeside beach, or a business stopover, you have found the right place.
The ambiance projects a genuine feeling of country hospitality. You will be pampered with thick, thirsty cotton towels, warm terry cloth robes and cozy, warm down comforters. Serene instrumental music gently fills the public areas as the afternoon fire crackles in the fieldstone fireplace in the gathering room. When you come back from your day excursion of shopping, a day at a beautiful sand beach at a nearby lake or river, hiking, skiing, or another of the area’s activities, a large billiard table waits for an early evening game between you and new and old friends before leaving for a quiet dinner nearby where you can enjoy local delecacies as well as fresh Maine Lobster. When you arrive back from dinner, the jets to the hot tub will be gurgling as you walk by, inviting you to soak under the stars, completing a perfect day in the country.
The Perennial Inn is the perfect retreat for guests wishing privacy and relaxation. Guests rooms are uniquely appointed to provide a cozy romantic setting. These delightful rooms have wide pine floors, high ceilings, and large sunny windows. All are furnished with comfortable queen beds, family antiques and fine furniture. Each has a sitting area. A two room suite is also available - perfect for a family with children.
The traditional, yet cheery parlor or screened-in wrap around porch provide special places to curl up with a good book you brought with you or from our varied library, catch up on letter writing or converse with the innkeepers and other guests. Relax in front of the fireplace in the Gathering Room and enjoy panoramic views of the rolling Blue Mountains that surround the inn. Here you can watch TV, use the VCR or DVD player, or play a game on the large oak table and imagine what life was like on a Maine farm a century ago.
For those who just can’t getaway from the modern conveniences, there is a public computer with high speed Internet access. For those who travel with there own computer, free wireless Internet will keep you connected throughout the Inn.
You could also choose to unwind in the billiard parlor and play a game of pool on the maple billiard table. Maybe you need to soak your muscles in the outdoor hot tub. In the evening you can relax in the courtyard around the outdoor fireplace and toast smores (of course all of the fixings are provided).
A perfect way to start your morning is in the dining room, or gathering room with fresh ground and brewed coffee, and a hearty country breakfast. Share your plans for the day with others as you gaze out the large window at what awaits for the day.
While afternoon Tea is quickly becoming a tradition, other refreshments in the summer include home brewed ice-tea, old-fashioned flavored sodas, with a few Sam Adams hidden in between the bottles. In the winter spiced cider and fondue are guest favorites.
